Cooking 101
The basic idea surrounding cooking is learning to make a standard item and then work it into other areas. Let me explain:
Hamburger – Cooked on a grill is a Burger
Hamburger – Baked in a bread pan, with BBQ sauce is Meatloaf
Hamburger – Made into small balls and pan fried is Meatballs
Chicken Breast roasted in an oven is Roast Chicken Breast
Chicken Breast pounded flat and cooked in a pan with lemon juice and capers – Chicken Piccta
Chicken Breast pounded flat and cooked in a pan with mushrooms and Marsala wine – Chicken Marsala
Vegetable Side Dishes (These go with most everything)
Carrots with a little water, butter, lemon is Saute’ Carrots
Spinach with a little water, butter, lemon is Saute’ Spinach
Asparagus with a little water, butter, lemon is Saute’ Asparagus
Put those same ingredients into a steamer over boiling water:
Steamed Carrots
Steamed Spinach
Steamed Asparagus
You get the idea. Now don’t be afraid to make a mistake. Tennyson said “It’s better to have cooked and lost than to never have cooked at all”
Okay so maybe it wasn’t exactly that but it’s the same idea…
