Why Cooking For Your Partner Is The Most Romantic Valentine’s Gift!

Every mom will tell you that the best gifts she ever received from her kids are the ones that are handmade. All those little trinkets and crafty things you did for her are probably still in a box somewhere, and are still treasured every time she picks one up. The Bluetooth speaker you got her for Christmas is nice, but, it doesn’t carry quite the same sentimental value. The same is true for anyone that you love, especially when it comes to your romantic partners. Though it’s not exactly gift-wrappable, cooking a heartfelt meal is the ultimate way to not only say that you care, but to show it.

While you may spend half an hour picking out the right bouquet and the perfect little teddy bear, or even getting a table at the swankiest possible restaurant – it’s not the same as preparing, cooking, and serving a proper meal. Spending money isn’t difficult or extraordinary – people do it all the time. What is extraordinary is taking time out of your day to actively do something for the most special person in your life. This means you’ve observed enough about them to at least anticipate how to make their day easier, or how to make them smile – and that’s the kind of interest that can’t be faked. It’s also infinitely more effective at showing your love than just whipping out your wallet.

Maybe you already cook for your partner pretty regularly, and that’s great! But, there are other ways to step it up a few notches to make your Valentine’s night extra special. Don’t cook for both of you – though you’ll be eating with them, this meal is not about you. When composing each dish, think only of them, and what they like. Make their favorite homestyle casserole with the green beans that you hate, or take a stab at that exotic spicy Indian dish they like, even though it burns your mouth – just go the extra mile to make it a meal that is tailored to them. It will not go unnoticed – and the memories you make will be all the sweeter.

Cooking a meal is the gift that says – I notice everything about you and I wanted to make you something that will not only make you happy but will also nourish your body and hopefully your soul, too. It says: your happiness is worth more than just my money, it’s also worth my time, my energy, and my absolute best effort. I’m not suggesting that you should forego the flowers and chocolate – just have those be the cherries on top of a truly sincere gesture of love and appreciation. And, don’t you dare let them do the dishes.
